Thank you for considering offering a useful item to the new Library of Things! 🙂
We’re keen to grow the catalogue with useful items from across a broad range of categories, especially through second-hand acquisition to increase BayShare’s sustainable impact. Things like decorations and reusable plates/cups/cutlery for parties, outdoor gear like rucksacks and bike maintenance equipment, crafting kit like soldering irons and sewing machines, sensory and/or memory play sets for kids and adults alike, musical instruments, and of course items and tools for gardening and home maintenance. If you donate an item, then you will receive an email every time it is borrowed, to show that it is getting used.

In order for the items to be covered by the BayShare’s Library of Things insurance, the items need to become property of LAMM, the hosts of the first Library space in Lancaster District. Please recognise that while we are grateful for donations, we cannot accept everything – due to space and insurance requirements, potential state of the item(s) donated, and if items are unused by Library members, we may need to sell or donate the item on to another group or individual – in which case proceeds will be used to support BayShare. Should we plan to dispose of an item, in the future, we’ll offer it back to the original donator first.

In order to process donation offers, we’re asking you to fill out a few bits of information so we can assess what is on offer, and then get in touch with next steps. We are a small group of volunteers; please be patient, we will get back to you within a few weeks to follow up. Your contact information will only be used for communications regarding the item(s) by the BayShare team, unless you tick the box to be added to the mailing list.
Please ensure that you check the wish-list before offering to donate an item. Things that we would definitely refuse include tents, clothing, 110V tools, reusable-nappies, non-folding bicycles, non-folding furniture and anything personal, like in-ear headphones.
Sorry, we really don’t have the resources to pick up items from you. In exceptional circumstances, however, we may be able to organise something.
