    Repair-a-thon

Sorry for late notice, but tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th June) is this month’s repair-a-thon, bringing in several groups and individuals to potentially help you to repair anything you could imagine! Come in between 6:30 and 8:30pm with your things and we’ll take a look with it.

Among the cast, we have Yim from Sunflower Cycles and Matt from Control Alt Repeat – to manage all your cycling and digital issues, respectively!

If you already have things, then it is common sense to keep them going as long as possible. If you don’t have things, then we might have something you can borrow instead of buying new, here at BayShare. You can borrow and return things, at BayShare, during any repair-a-thon event.

Put it in your diary: Repair-a-thon happens every second Tuesday of the month, between 6:30 and 8:30pm.

    Launch day!

Saturday was the day of our soft launch, ahead of Monday 1st June, which is when we officially open to the public.

Cat Smith, MP (Lancaster and Wyre), as well as Colin Hartley, the mayor of Lancaster, turned up to be the first to see the new library of things and the first “things” to be catalogued for borrowing.

Hop on down to BayShare, in person or online, to tell us what you’d like to borrow first!

Every month, we host a repair event, bringing together several groups of experts. Bring your old and broken things and we’ll work with you to fix them! We run from 6:30-8:30pm, on the second Tuesday of the month, in room 2, floor 4, Harpers Mill, White Cross (there is a lift!).

    First showing for:

Contact us at repair@bayshare.uk, if you want to check if we can manage an item, before you bring it in, especially if it is difficult to transport!

Unlike at BBC’s Repair Shop, emotional family stories, about the items to be repaired, are strictly optional!

Library of Things needs your things!

The items for the new library of things (BayShare) are currently being requested, donated, bought, catalogued and stored. Ideally, we’d like a lot of things to be donated by the public, which would allow us to concentrate our funding on purchasing the things that have been most requested!

    A backpack
    A guitar
    Example carpet cleaner/power washer

If you think you have an unwanted item worthy of inclusion, please fill in the donation form. Is there an item that you’d really like to be able to borrow from us? If so, then submit a request!

We’ve got the funding to open the Library of Things!

We’ve been planning the library of things for a year. Lancaster City Council recently matched the initial funding that we received from Community Pots, nearly twelve months ago. We have leased a new unit and should be able to open to the public by the end of May! Visit BayShare.uk, now, to see what all the fuss is about, offer to donate items to the community library and sign up for our newsletter!
